Illegal Immigrants A Blessing and a Cruse

advertisement

This article is meant to promote an honest view of our history. If you do not have the stomach to admit certain truths, please move to other articles. This article is not meant to foster hard feelings, it is just meant to dispel the illusion of what our forefathers truly fought for.

BLUNT US HISTORY IN ONE GENERALIZED ARTICLE:
The United States was founded by "illegal immigrants." We killed off many American Indian tribes and introduced our brand of "culture" to their detriment (fire water baby!). We brought our serfs with us for our household chores. We shipped African Americans for further our productivity and wealth through slave labor. We fought the Mexicans for some land and bought some land from them as well. We then invited the Chinese, Filipinos, etc... to come and work here under the guise of "land of the free," "land of the plenty," etc... when we were actually looking for cheap legalized slave labor. African Americans, Asian Americans, women, etc were never paid equal to "white" Americans until about 10 to 15 years ago and some would actually say that things are still the same. Bottom line: America today is NOT the America of yesterday. It is only within this generation that we have truly promoted "freedom and equality" to all.

We can talk about the nobility of our forefathers but let's be honest. The constitution of today was founded by 51 white, rich, male landowners. Minorities (labeled as non-whites, women of all color, and landless white males) were never in the picture when the Law of the Land was written.

Today's constitution is the by-product of the endless struggle of African Americans (Unlike German Americans, Italian Americans, Polish Americans, etc... why have we grouped ALL peoples of dark skin color under one grouping? There are Jamaican Americans - not located in Africa, South African American - a country in the continent of Africa, etc...)

The point is this. We are a nation of immigrants, be it slave immigrants (which really is an oxymoron term), conquering immigrants, cheap slave labor immigrant (another oxy moron term), etc...

Let's not forget what America is really all about when we talk of illegal immigrants. Let's give them respect and treat them as humans when we decide their fate in this immigrant country of ours.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.
